Spotlight on NAV Sevens Rugby Team

Truly Good Foods was happy to sponsor the NAV Sevens rugby team this year and provide them snacks to help energize them in their quest for the cup. We’re talking to their Director of Rugby to learn more about the team:

TELL US ABOUT NAV SEVEN:
Coach Justin Kyle Anderson and I wanted to give rugby players from North Carolina a chance to compete and win at that highest level. So we formed the team and held tryouts for players in the area.
WHAT DO YOU ENJOY THE MOST ABOUT THE TEAM?
We bonded quickly, and the guys’ attitude all season was turned on and focused on our goals.
WHAT TEAM SUCCESS ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF?
Winning the Mid-Atlantic, the toughest division in the country.
FAVORITE TEAM MEMORY:
The 8-hour bus rides home after each tournament in the middle of the night.
TEAM MANTRA:
Ferda, which means “For the Boys”. It means sacrifice, hard work, lifting each other up and camaraderie.
TEAM MEMBERS WHO ARE THE FURTHEST FROM HOME:
We have 4 foreign players. Elliot Bryers and Emerson Bessell from New Zealand, and Jesse Herborn and AJ Rabe from South Africa.
WHAT’S THE COOLEST PLACE THE TEAM HAS VISITED THIS YEAR?
Kansas City for the National Championship was a blast. We also enjoyed visiting Philadelphia.
WHAT FICTIONAL SPORTS TEAM WOULD YOU COMPARE YOURSELVES TO?
The Bad News Bears!
We have a bunch of division 2 players, but we competed against and beat professional players and d1 players. No one gave us a shot and we went 4-2 at nationals defeating 3 clubs with national championships. Even 1 of our 2 losses was to this year’s national champion.
WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE TRULY GOOD FOODS SNACKS?
We loved all the different snack bag flavors. They were the perfect nutrition throughout a long tournament day when you can’t get a full meal.
