I Love You Grabeez^® Sunburst

Our snack mix, Sunburst, has been around for as long as I can remember. Grabeez turns 10 years old in the first months of 2015. This mix and this cup, combined, are perfect. I don’t know when my emotional ties to this one package and this one product started, but the marketing experts tell me this is the true brand experience … a strong emotion tie to a product, that when you experience it, you know it, you love it, and it takes on a meaning of its own.

When I was a young kid, I mowed lawns to make a few extra dollars. One of the jobs was across town and was a 1.3 mile walk, or a quick bike ride. The walk was nice. The small town was basically a grid, so you could take a different way every time. I would walk along the river to see who was catching what, or stop on the way home and grab a slider at Armstrong’s. But the best part of the day, was the brand experience that I still enjoy today. Grandma Edith’s (not my grandma, my friends Grandma, but that is what we called her) lawn was small, but there were steep side. Mowing took about an hour. When I was done, Grandma Edith always offered me a cold Dr. Pepper. I was not a huge fan of the taste at that age, but I drank it slow and walked home. Over the years, the taste grew on me and today it is a bit of an indulgence for me.

Today, I live much farther south, but after lawn work in the Carolina heat, a cold Dr. Pepper not only hits the spot, but the brand experience takes me back to a walk along the river , over the bridge and through the small town I grew up in. Over the years, Dr. Pepper and I have created a strong emotional relationship.

Back to the original point … Grabeez® and Sunburst. I don’t know when my love for salted, shelled peanuts started, probably with my employment here. Sunburst blends these salty peanuts, with a few salted almonds, chocolate gems (who loves chocolate?) and juicy raisins. In this mix, the whole is much greater than the parts. As you take the first bite, all of the tastes you expect are there, then, it hits you, a salty raisin. As the mix is made, salt from the peanuts and almonds gets on the raisins, and creates a taste you will not forget. You will begin to pick the raisins out, kind of like the rye chips in snackin’ mix. Then comes the cup, Grabeez® fits perfectly in your hand. It even appears to have grips on the side of the cup. The cup is a perfect size, and Sunburst pours perfectly from it. The cup is 100% recyclable; my wife loves that, I.Must.Recycle. This is one of the many reasons that I love Grabeez® and Sunburst.
